Swing gates are the simplest and most economical gate to install, and for most flat entries with room to open they are all you need. Where the opening is tight and there is not enough room for a gate to swing fully clear, we build it as a bi-fold, so the gate folds back on itself and takes up far less space through its travel. Either way, the gate can be manual or automated.
Swing gates
A swing gate hinges open from one or both sides and suits level ground with clearance for the leaf to travel. Singles work for pedestrian access and narrow entries, doubles cover wider driveways. Because they are straightforward to build and hang, they are the cheapest way to put a proper gate in a fence.
Bi-fold gates for tight spaces
When there is not enough room for a full swing, a bi-fold gate solves it. Each leaf is hinged in the middle so it folds against itself as it opens, clearing the entry in roughly half the space a standard swing needs. It is a common answer for driveways set close to a building or a boundary, and it keeps the convenience of a swing gate without the swing room.
Manual or automated
Both swing and bi-fold gates can be left manual or fitted with automation, so you can operate them from a fob, keypad or intercom where the entry is busy or you want to open it from the car. See our full gate range for the automation options.

Whichever style suits your entry, the gate is fabricated in the same profile and finish as the fence it sits in, with hardware chosen for the traffic it will take. For a wide vehicle entry where even a bi-fold is tight, a sliding gate may be the better fit.
