Who we are
We are a Newcastle fencing and light fabrication company based at Toronto on Lake Macquarie, trading as Chainwire Fencing Specialist and operated by Walters Fencing (Aust) Pty Ltd since 2004. Chainwire is in the name because chainwire is the fence we are known for, but the work runs wider: steel and aluminium fencing, weldmesh, gates, sporting facilities, temporary site fencing and the fabricated steelwork that goes with all of it.
Why the big sites use us
Construction sites, mines, power stations, railway corridors, schools and military bases have one thing in common: they do not let just anyone through the gate. Our crews are trained and ticketed for rail work, so we can be on a corridor at short notice. Site-specific safe work method statements are written for every project, our OH&S policy and JSAs are kept current, and where a site runs tighter rules than ours, we work to theirs.
That discipline costs nothing extra on a house job, and you feel it anyway: the crew turns up when they said, the site is left tidy, and the fence is plumb.
How a job runs
We talk the job through with you and whoever else it touches before anyone digs a hole, and when something changes mid-job, and on real sites it does, we deal with it then and there rather than letting it stall. Every fence is installed to the relevant Australian Standards and engineered to last, which is why so much of our work is repeat work.
The workshop
Most fencing contractors order their steel. We fabricate ours at Toronto: gates built to the opening, brackets that fit, plus cages, bollards, grates, trolleys and handrails for clients who never needed a fence at all. See what the workshop makes.
What we don't do
Colorbond, glass fencing and timber post-and-rail are different trades, and we would rather point you to the right contractor than do a middling job. If it is metal fencing, mesh, gates or light fabrication, it is ours.
