How aluminium is worked
The way aluminium is formed depends on the part.
Casting pours molten aluminium into moulds to produce consistent shapes and thicknesses, which is why it is common in components that need to be identical every time.
Rolling takes advantage of the metal's malleability to press it into thin sheet, ready for further forming.
Extrusion pushes heated aluminium through a die to create a profile. It is widely used because it puts less stress on the metal than some other methods, which suits the softer material well.

Why choose aluminium
The two things that set aluminium apart are weight and corrosion resistance. A lighter frame is easier and safer to handle and install, and it puts less load on its fixings and the ground beneath. The natural corrosion resistance means it holds up outdoors and near the coast without the maintenance a bare steel section would need, which is why we reach for it on exposed and marine-adjacent jobs.
